I thought it would be fun to start some discussions from a family card game, Movie Talk, which I never got to play with my family. The nineteenth card I pulled said:
“The most extras in a film appeared in the funeral scene of Gandhi, forming a crowd 300,000 strong. Sir Richard Attenborough directed the volunteers via loudspeaker. Eleven camera crews shot the scene, which was on the screen for only 2 minutes.
If you could be a movie extra, in what film would you want to appear?”
This is the ninth question in the cards that I’m going to change in favor of making it more “movie” related. I’m changing the question to: What movie has the most unintentionally entertaining extra?
I thought it would be sort of fun to look into the background of shots today and discuss the most interesting extras. I think one of the most popular examples I’ve seen is the extra from The Dark Knight Rises who falls down on his own.
My favorite entertaining movie extra, though, (which is also a pretty popular example) would have to be the Stormtrooper who bumps his head in Star Wars. This extra inspired a documentary, Empire Strikes Door (2019), and even inspired a scene in Attack of the Clones where Jango Fett does the same thing.
TLDR: What movie has the most unintentionally entertaining extra?
